ofi began operations in Germany in October 2013, focusing on marketing green coffee, soluble coffee and cocoa. Our coffee marketing office in Hamburg provides roasters and beverage manufacturers with coffees from more than 15 origins around the world. 

Our team focuses on reaching a deep understanding of each individual customer’s requirements and providing tailored solutions for their roasting, blending, certification and marketing needs. 

We provide timely and valuable market information from across the world, flexible contract and delivery terms, superior logistics capabilities and protect businesses through customised risk management solutions.

Cocoa

ofi’s cocoa processing factory in Mannheim is a state-of-the-art facility where we produce premium deZaan cocoa ingredients from carefully selected cocoa beans, in a sustainable way. Through the implementation of new shell boilers, thermal oxidizers and solar panels we aim to achieve a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions starting from 2023.

Along with superior cocoa powders, cocoa butters and cocoa liquors, the Mannheim facility is also the source of new formats such as deZaan’s cocoa liquor thins. This specific format is providing a greater flexibility and functionality for manufacturers allowing a reduction in chocolate conching time. The facility is also offering a segregated operation and cocoa ingredients can be also supplied with green certifications, like Fair Trade, Rain Forest Alliance, and Kosher and Halal credentials, to manufacturers in the German domestic market as well as worldwide.

The sweet treats and trends winning hearts this Valentine’s Day

Chocolate has long been synonymous with Valentine’s Day, with sweet treats a classic way to celebrate the season of love.

But Valentine’s Day is evolving, with Gen Z and Millennials redefining traditions. Many consumers are choosing to celebrate this day with friends and family members, as well as significant others. In 2023, 40% of Gen Z and 20% of Millennials said they were planning to buy their friends a Valentine’s gift.^[1] And what better way to do so than with cocoa?

As consumers change the way they celebrate Valentine’s Day – and who they celebrate with – there is an opportunity for manufacturers to develop new products. From introducing more exotic flavors in confectionery to creating more experiential formats and expanding into new categories, we’re seeing companies inventing new ways for consumers to celebrate the season of love with those who matter most to them.
